Mi\u0161evi su znatno kasnije po\u010deli da stare i ostajali bi duplo du\u017ee mladi. Vezivanjem na njenu membranu taj molekul preparata zahvata slobodne radikale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201ePitanje je da li mi ljudi uop\u0161te treba du\u017ee da \u017eivimo\u201c \u2013 izjavljuje taj nau\u010dnik. \u201eAli jasno je da \u017eelimo \u0161to du\u017ee da ostanemo mladi, sna\u017eni i zdravi.\u201c \u2013 a upravo to je uspelo sa \u017eivotinjama. \u201eMi smo navikli da je starenje neizbe\u017eno\u201c, ka\u017ee Skulachev.<\/p>\n<p>\u201ePri tome je nau\u010dnicima davno poznato da neke \u017eivotinje ne stare. To zna\u010di da je biolo\u0161ki mogu\u0107e \u017eiveti i ne stariti.\u201c Za\u010du\u0111uju\u0107i primer je ju\u017enoafri\u010dki glodar &#8211; Heterocephalus glaber koji \u017eivi po 30 godina bez da stari. Ne dobija ni rak ni sr\u010dane bolesti niti stara\u010dku slabost. \u017divi bez starenja, sve dok ne bude progutan od neke druge \u017eivotinje.<\/p>\n<p>Takav \u017eivot treba omogu\u0107iti i ljudima.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mehanizam koji poma\u017ee da se elimini\u0161u slobodni radikali<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Procesom starenja upravlja oksidacija slobodnih radikala. U mitohondrijama, koje su pokreta\u010dke snage \u0107elija, se stalno odvija proces pri kome kroz disanje doveden kiseonik reaguje sa unesenim hranljivim materijama. Slobodni atomi kiseonika koji nastaju metabolizmom napadaju okolinu, pa i DNK u mitohondrijama.<\/p>\n<p>Kod starih ljudi je dokazano postojanje izmenjenog genetskog materijala u mitohondrijama koje treba da daju energiju organizmu. \u0160to su vi\u0161e napadnute te \u0107elije zadu\u017eene za \u0107elijsko disanje, to se vi\u0161e proizvode agresivni oksidansi. Zdrava \u0107elija izbacuje antioksidanse iz \u0107elijske membrane kako bi bili zahva\u0107eni slobodni radikali i neutralizovani. I kod ostarelih \u017eivotinja su Moskovski istra\u017eiva\u010di utvrdili regeneraciju po unosu preparata.
